NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 7th September, 2016
S.O. 2901(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by clauses (b) and (d) of section 14 of the Energy
Conservation Act, 2001 (52 of 2001), the Central Government in consultation with the Bureau of Energy
Efficiency, hereby specifies following single phase electric storage water heaters up to 200 litre, for household
and similar purposes and intended for heating water below boiling temperature, their rated voltage being not
more than 250 V, namely:—
(a) Closed waters heaters:
(b) Cistern-fed water heaters;
(c) Cistern-type water heaters;
(d) Open-outlet water heaters; and
(e) Vented water heaters,
for the purposes of the said Act and directs that any such appliances or class of appliances being
manufactured or sold or purchased or imported for sale shall display such particulars on labels in such manner
as specified in the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (Particulars and Manner of their Display on Labels of
Stationary Storage Type Electric Water Heater) Regulations, 2016.
