1.(cid:32) Short title and commencement.- (1) These rules may be called the Coinage (Issue of Commemorative Coins on the Occasion of Birth Centenary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya) Rules,2016. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2.(cid:32) Denomination of coins.- The coins of the following denominations shall also be coined at the Mint for issue under the authority of the Central Government to commemorate the occasion of “Birth Centenary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya”, namely:- (i)(cid:32) One Hundred Rupees; and (ii)(cid:32) Five Rupees.4 THE GAZETTE OF INDIA : EXTRAORDINARY [PART II—SEC. 3(i)] 3.(cid:32) Dimension, composition of coins. - The coins of the denominations mentioned in rule 2 shall conform to the following dimensions and composition, namely : - Denomination Number of Shape and outside diameter Metal composition of coin serrations (1) (2) (3) (4) Quaternary Alloy Circular Silver - 50 per cent One Hundred Rupees 44 millimeters 200 Copper -40 per cent Nickel - 05 per cent Zinc - 05 per cent Nickel Brass Circular Copper -75 per cent Five Rupees 23 millimeters 100 Zinc - 20 per cent Nickel - 05 per cent 4.(cid:32) Design.- The design of the coins shall be as specified in the First Schedule appended to these rules. 5.(cid:32) Standard weight and remedy allowed.- The standard weight of the coins of the following denominations, and the remedy allowed in making of such coins shall be as specified in the Second Schedule appended to these rules. The First Schedule (See rule 4) (i) ONE HUNDRED RUPEES OBVERSE: “ The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend स(cid:9)यमेव ” जयते inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “भारत” in Devanagari script and on the right periphery flanked with the word “INDIA” in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol “`” and denominational value “100” in the International Numerals below the Lion Capitol. REVERSE: The face of coin shall bear the portrait of “PANDIT DEENDAYAL UPADHYAYA”in the centre. The inscription “पं(cid:21)डत द(cid:24)नदयाल उपा(cid:28)याय क(cid:30) ज(cid:31)मशती” in Devanagari script and “BIRTH CENTENARY OF PANDIT DEENDAYAL UPADHYAYA” in English shall be written on the top and bottom periphery respectively on the face of the coin. The year’s figure “1916-2016” shall be written below the portrait of “PANDIT DEENDAYAL UPADHYAYA”. (ii) FIVE RUPEES OBVERSE: “ The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend स(cid:9)यमेव ” जयते inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “भारत” in Devanagari script and on the right periphery flanked with the word “INDIA” in English. The Second Schedule (See rule 5) Remedy allowed Denomination of coin Standard weight In composition In standard weight (1) (2) (3) (4) 1/500th plus or minus for Silver, that 1/100th plus or minus, is to say the Silver content may vary that is to say, the One Hundred Rupees 35 Grams from 498 to 502 per 1000. weight could vary from 34.65 grams to 35.35 grams. 1/100th plus or minus for Copper and 1/40th plus or minus, Zinc, that is to say Copper could vary that is to say, the from 74 per cent to 76 per cent and weight could vary Five 6 Grams Zinc from 19 per cent to 21 per cent from 5.85 grams to Rupees and 1/200th plus or minus for Nickel 6.15 grams. that is to say Nickel could vary from 4.5 per cent to 5.5 per cent.
