Short title and commencement.- (1) These rules may be called the Coinage (Issue of Commemorative Coins on the occasion of centenary celebration of Banaras Hindu University) Rules, 2016. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. Denomination of coins.- The coins of the following denominations shall also be coined at the Mint for issue under the authority of the Central Government to commemorate the occasion of centenary celebration of Banaras Hindu University, namely:- (i) One Hundred Rupees; and (ii) Ten Rupees 3. Dimension and composition of coins.- The coins of the denominations mentioned in rule 2 shall conform to the following dimensions and composition, namely:- Denomination Shape and outside Number of Metal Composition of the coin diameter Serrations (1) (2) (3) (4) One Hundred Circular 200 Quaternary Alloy Rupees 44 millimeter Silver - 50 Percent Copper - 40 Percent Nickel - 05 Percent Zinc - 05 Percent Ten Circular --- Outer Ring Rupees 27 millimeter (Aluminium Bronze) (Bi- metallic) Copper - 92 Percent Aluminum- 06 Percent Nickel - 02 Percent Center Piece (Cupro Nickel) Copper – 75 Percent Nickel – 25 Percent 4. Design.-The Design of the coins shall be as specified in the First Schedule to these rules. 5. Standard weight and remedy allowed.-Standard weight of the coins of the following denominations, and the remedy allowed in making of such coins shall be as specified in the Second Schedule to these rules. The First Schedule (See rule 4) (i) ONE HUNDRED RUPEES- OBVERSE: The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend “स(cid:9)यमेव जयते” inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “भारत” in Devanagari script and on the right¹Hkkx IIµ[k.M 3(i)º Hkkjr dk jkti=k % vlk/kj.k 5 periphery with the word “INDIA” in English, and it shall also bear the Rupee symbol “`” and denominational value “100” in international numerals below the Lion Capitol. The skirting design is made on entire periphery of this coin. REVERSE: This face of the coin shall bear the Logo of Banaras Hindu University along with the image of university Entrance. “शता(cid:20)द(cid:22) वष”(cid:25) in Devanagari script and CENTENARY YEAR in English shall be written above the image of Logo and Entrance of university. The inscription “काशी (cid:28)ह(cid:30)द ू व!विव(cid:3)ालय” in Devanagari script and “BANARAS HINDU UNIVERSITY” in English shall be on upper and lower periphery of the coin respectively. The year "1916” and “2016” in international numerals shall be written at the centre on left and right periphery of the coin respectively. The skirting design is made on entire periphery of this coin. (ii) TEN RUPEES- OBVERSE: The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend “स(cid:9)यमेव जयते” inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “भारत” in Devanagari script and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English, and it shall also bear the Rupee symbol “`” and denominational value “10” in international numerals below the Lion Capitol.
