This notification, No. 31/2016-Central Excise (N.T.), issued by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, and dated July 4, 2016, amends Notification No. 17/2004-Central Excise (N.T.), dated September 4, 2004 (G.S.R. 565(E)). The amendment, made in exercise of powers conferred by sub-rule (1) of rule 20 of the Central Excise Rules, 2002, inserts clause (c) after item (vii) of clause (b) and before "Explanation" in Sl. No. 2, column 2 of the table within the principal notification. Clause (c) pertains to "bunker fuels for use in ships or vessels, as referred to in Sl. No. 65A of the table in the notification of the Government of India, in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 12/2012-Central Excise, dated the 17th March, 2012, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Subsection (i) vide number G.S.R. 163(E) dated 17th March, 2012." The amendment is deemed necessary in the public interest. The notification is issued under the authority of Under Secretary, Rohan, and bears file number F. No. 831/2015-CX.3.

amendment in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue)
No. 17/2004-Central Excise (N.T.), dated the 4th September, 2004, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part
II, Section 3, Sub-section (1) vide number G.S.R. 565(E) dated 4th September, 2004, namely:-
In the said notification, in the table, in column (2), in Sl. No. 2, after item (vii) of clause (b) and before
Explanation the following clause shall be inserted, namely,-
