S.O. 3170(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (3) of section 3 of the
Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 (29 of 1986) and in pursuanceof the notification of the Government of
India in the erstwhile Ministry of Environment and Forests, number S.O. 1533(E), dated the 14th September,
2006 (hereinafter referred to as the said notification), the Central Government hereby constitutes the State
Level Environment Impact Assessment Authority,Chhattisgarh(hereinafter referred to as the
Authority,Chhattisgarh) comprising of the following members, namely: -
(i). Shri Bhogi Lal Saran, IFS (Retd.), - Chairman;

Raipur, Chhattisgarh - 492015.
(ii). Dr. Samir Bajpai, - Member;
Professor, Civil Engineering Department, National
Institute of Technology, Raipur.
(iii). Secretary, Government of Chhattisgarh, Housing - Member Secretary.
and Environment Department.
2. The Chairman and members of the Authority,Chhattisgarhshall hold office for a term of three years
from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette.
3. The Authority,Chhattisgarh shall exercise such powers and follow such procedures as specified in the
said notification.
4. The Authority,Chhattisgarh shallbase its decision onthe recommendations of the State Level Expert
Appraisal Committee constituted under paragraph 5 of this notification for the StateofChhattisgarh.
5. For the purposes of assisting the Authority,Chhattisgarh, the Central Government, in consultation with
the Government of Chhattisgarh, hereby constitutes the State Level Expert Appraisal Committee,
Chhattisgarhcomprising of the following members, namely:-

6. The Chairman and members of the State Level Expert Appraisal Committee,Chhattisgarh shall hold
office for a term of three years from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette.
7. The State Level Expert Appraisal Committee,Chhattisgarh shall exercise such powers and follow such
procedures as specified in the said notification.
8. The State Level Expert Appraisal Committee,Chhattisgarh shall function on the principle of collective
responsibility and the Chairman shall endeavor to reach a consensus in each case, and if consensus cannot be
reached, the views of the majority shall prevail.
9. The Government of Chhattisgarhshall notify an agency to act as Secretariat for the
Authority,Chhattisgarhand the State Level Expert Appraisal Committee,Chhattisgarh, and shall provide all
financial and logistic support including accommodation, transportation and such other facilities in respect of
all their statutory functions.
10. The sitting fee, travelling allowance and dearness allowance to the Chairman and members of the
Authority,Chhattisgarh and the Chairman and members of the State Level Expert Appraisal Committee,
Chhattisgarhshall be paid in accordance with the relevantrules of the Government of Chhattisgarh.
