Executive Summary & Key Takeaways

**Executive Summary** The Indian Nursing Council (INC) issued a Withdrawal Order on July 17, 2026, regarding nursing institutions in Andhra Pradesh that failed to meet statutory inspection requirements. Effective September 11, 2025, qualifications obtained from the specified institution will be valid for professional registration only within the State of Andhra Pradesh. This action follows the institution's repeated failure to apply for mandatory inspections and a lack of recommendation from state authorities. **Key Points / Main Content** **Legal Authority and Procedural History** * The order is issued under Section 14 and Section 14(3)(b) of the Indian Nursing Council Act, 1947. * A formal notice for withdrawal of recognition (No. 18-02/Govt./2024 - INC) was previously issued on November 26, 2024. * The notice was directed to the Principal Secretary of the Health Medical and Family Welfare Department of Andhra Pradesh and the State Nurses & Midwives Council. **Findings of Non-Compliance** * The Indian Nursing Council received no remarks or suitability recommendations from the Andhra Pradesh State Government despite the 2024 notice. * Records indicate the affected institution failed to apply for statutory inspections for several consecutive years. * The nursing programs at the identified institution were found to be deficient and unsuitable. **Regulatory Restriction** * With effect from September 11, 2025, the national recognition of qualifications from the listed institution is restricted. * Holders of these qualifications are entitled to be registered as nurses only within the State of Andhra Pradesh. **Affected Institution** * **Institution Name:** Karuna School Of Nursing. * **Location:** Tanuku, West Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh (Pin Code: 534211). * **Program:** General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM). **Impact Analysis** **Karuna School Of Nursing** **Impact** The institution has lost its standing as a nationally recognized nursing school. Its programs are now deemed deficient and unsuitable for national-level qualification standards. **Action Required** The institution must address the deficiencies and failure to undergo statutory inspections noted by the Council. **Graduates and Qualification Holders** **Impact** Individuals holding qualifications from this institution are restricted from seeking professional registration in any state other than Andhra Pradesh from September 11, 2025, onwards. **Action Required** Graduates must ensure their professional registration is processed specifically within the State of Andhra Pradesh to maintain their eligibility to practice. **Andhra Pradesh Nurses & Midwives Council / State Government** **Impact** The state bodies are now solely responsible for the registration and regulation of practitioners graduating from the listed deficient institution. **Action Required** The Council must limit the registration of these graduates to the state jurisdiction and address the lack of recommendations previously requested by the INC.
