In pursuance of Sub rule 1 of Rule 15 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Rules, 2018, the Bureau of Indian Standards hereby notifies that Indian standards, particulars of which are given in the second column
The gazette notification issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) announces the establishment of new Indian Standards and the concurrent withdrawal of older standards. This is done in accordance with Rule 15(1) of the Bureau of Indian Standards Rules, 2018.
The new standards listed in the schedule have been established as of May 14, 2024, and will be implemented alongside the older standards until the older standards are withdrawn on August 14, 2024.
Key Changes
Eight new Indian Standards have been established on May 14, 2024, replacing older versions.
The older versions of these eight standards will be withdrawn on August 14, 2024.
The standards cover various products including Ammonium Alum, Hydroquinone, Sodium Acetate, Ammonium Thiosulphate Solution, Rhodium Salts for Electroplating, Ammonium Thiocyanate, Sodium Sulphite Anhydrous and Toilet Cleaner Acid-Based Powder.
For example, IS 259:2024 (Ammonium Alum) replaces IS 259-1969, and IS 388:2024 (Hydroquinone) replaces IS 388:1999 and ISO 423:1994.
