On February 6, 2026, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced the inclusion of three Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) in the Second Schedule to the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934. The included RRBs are: Bihar Gramin Bank, Jammu and Kashmir Grameen Bank, and West Bengal Gramin Bank. This inclusion was made vide Notification DoR.LIC.No.S7702/16.13.300/2025-26 dated January 12, 2026, and published in the Gazette of India (Part III - Section 4) dated February 03, 2026.
Additionally, the RBI announced the exclusion of seven erstwhile RRBs from the Second Schedule to the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934 vide Notification DoR.LIC.No.S7703/16.13.300/2025-26 dated January 12, 2026, and published in the Gazette of India (Part III - Section 4) dated February 03, 2026. The excluded RRBs are: Dakshin Bihar Gramin Bank, Uttar Bihar Gramin Bank, J & K Grameen Bank, Ellaquai Dehati Bank, Bangiya Gramin Vikash Bank, Paschim Banga Gramin Bank, and Uttarbanga Kshetriya Gramin Bank.

Inclusion in and exclusion from the Second Schedule to the Reserve Bank of

The names of the following three Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) have been
included in the Second Schedule to the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934 vide
Notification DoR.LIC.No.S7702/16.13.300/2025-26 dated January 12, 2026 and
published in the Gazette of India (Part III - Section 4) dated February 03, 2026:
