The Income Tax Department conducted an outreach programme in Navi Mumbai on 19 May
2026 as part of its nationwide initiative to create awareness about the salient features of the
Income Tax Act, 2025, which came into effect from 1 April 2026.
The programme, organised by PCIT-27, Mumbai, was attended by senior officers of the Income
Tax Department along with distinguished guests including CA Rajendra J. Phadke, Chairperson,
Navi Mumbai Branch of WIRC of ICAI; Shri Chirag Shah, Vice President, CREDAI-BANM; and Shri
Divyesh Shah, Vice President, APMC.
Smt. Maya Maheswari, PCIT-27, delivered the welcome address, followed by a technical session
by Ms. Shilpa Khanikar and Shri Manas Sahu, Assistant Commissioners of Income Tax (ACIT),
who elaborated on the key provisions of the Income Tax Act, 2025, recent changes in
compliance requirements, and other important aspects of the new tax framework.
The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Vikram Sahay, CCIT-3, Mumbai. An interactive
question-and-answer session was also held, enabling participants to seek clarifications on
various aspects of the new legislation.The programme was anchored by Shri Shrikant Pandey, ACIT, and concluded with a vote of
thanks delivered by Shri Paresh G. Deshpande, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax,
Mumbai.
The outreach programme witnessed participation from a wide spectrum of stakeholders,
including taxpayers, Chartered Accountants, trade associations, and representatives from
various business communities across Navi Mumbai, including Belapur, Vashi, Kharghar, and
surrounding areas. The initiative received encouraging appreciation for its informative and
interactive format.
