Ministry of Finance Income Tax Department, Mumbai, conducts Outreach Programme on the Income Tax Act, 2025 in Navi Mumbai The new Income Tax Act, 2025 is simplified, rationalised and user - friendly, states senior IT officers Posted On: 21 APR 2026 5:58PM by PIB Mumbai Mumbai : 21 April 2026 The Income Tax Department, Mumbai conducted an outreach programme in Navi Mumbai on April 21, 2026, as part of its nationwide initiative to create awareness about the salient features of the Income Tax Act, 2025, which has come into effect from April 1, 2026. Over 250 persons from various cross sections of the society - taxpayers, chartered accountants, trade associations and representative from various business communities across Navi Mumbai participated in this programme. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Vikram Sahay, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Mumbai stated that the new Act would be extremely beneficial for the taxpayers, reducing the cost of compliance by way of simplification and rationalisation. It is both contemporaneous and well-structured which taxpayers and their representatives would find to be useful and help them in discharging their obligation of paying taxes for nation building.Dr. Maya Maheshwari, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, Mumbai delivered the welcome address. A presentation on the new Act was made by Ms. Shilpa Khanikar and Shri Manas Sahu, ACIT. Also present during the occasion were Shri. E.A. Patil, Founder Chairman, Navi Mumbai Branch of WIRC of ICAI, Mr. Chirag Shah, Vice President, CREDAI-BANM and Shri B. Bhanushali, President, GROMA.During the two-hour long session, the participants raised various questions and sought clarifications on several aspects relating to tax payment and return filing during Financial Year 2026-27 under the new Income Tax Act which were addressed by the senior officers of the Income Tax Department. The event received an encouraging and overwhelming response and appreciation from the various stakeholders. Over the next few months, the Income Tax Department, Mumbai is committed to conducting a series of such programmes in various parts of Mumbai to reach out the taxpayers and their representatives and to make them aware of their roles and responsibilities under the new statute.
