Mathew, DG, NADT Posted On: 14 MAY 2026 5:57PM by PIB Mumbai Nagpur : 14 May 2026 The Income Tax Department, Nagpur organized “PRARAMBH–2026”, an outreach and awareness programme on the provisions of the Income-tax Act, 2025 and the Income-tax Rules, 2026 at Chitnavis Centre, Civil Lines, Nagpur on 14 May 2026.The programme was conducted as part of the Department’s nationwide outreach initiative aimed at familiarizing taxpayers and stakeholders with the key features of the new Income-tax Act, 2025 and promoting voluntary compliance through awareness and engagement. Dr. Sibichen K. Mathew, Director General, National Academy of Direct Taxes (NADT), Nagpur, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Shri Sunil Umap, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, Nagpur, delivered the opening remarks and welcomed the participants to the programme. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sibichen K. Mathew elaborated on the vision and objectives behind the Income-tax Act, 2025 and highlighted the efforts made towards simplification of tax laws, ease of understanding, and reduction of complexities for taxpayers. He emphasized the importance of technology-driven taxpayer services and encouraged stakeholders to make effective use of the Department’s AI-powered “KAR SAATHI” chatbot for quick guidance and assistance on tax-related matters.
