The 1st Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting on Agriculture was held today between India and Kenya in
virtual mode. The meeting was co-chaired by Shri Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Joint Secretary (IC), Department of
Agriculture & Farmers Welfares, and Mr. Stephen Rono, Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Kenya.
Officials from both sides shared perspectives on current priorities, key challenges, and emerging
initiatives within their respective agricultural landscapes and highlighted the importance of enhancing
bilateral collaboration in agriculture and related sectors.
Both sides held constructive discussions on key issues related to collaboration in agricultural research,
market access, farm mechanization, capacity building and training initiatives, among other issues.
The meeting was also attended by senior officials from the Crops Division, M&T Division, NRM
Division, PP Division, Extension Division of the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, High
Commission of India in Kenya and the Ministry of External Affairs.******
