G.S.R. 160(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (g) of sub-section (2) of section 60, read with section 198 of the Railways Act, 1989 (24 of 1989), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Indian Railways (Open Lines) General Rules, 1976, namely:- 1. Short title and commencement. – (1) These rules may be called the Indian Railways (Open Lines) General (Amendment) Rules, 2024. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. In the Indian Railways (Open Lines) General Rules, 1976, (hereinafter referred to as said rules), in rule 9.04, in clause (a), for the words “Manual Stop Signals”, the words “Manual or Semi-Automatic Stop signals” shall be substituted.; 3. In the said rules, in rule 9.06,- (i) for the existing marginal heading, the following marginal heading shall be substituted, namely:-[भाग II—खण् ड 3(i)] भारत का रािपत्र : असाधारण 3 “Conditions for taking ‘off’ Manual Stop signal or Semi-Automatic Stop Signal, in Automatic Block territory on single line.-”; (ii) for sub-rules(1) and (2), the following sub-rules shall be substituted, namely:- “(1) Home signal- When a train is approaching a Home signal, otherwise than at a terminal station, the signal shall not be taken ‘off’ unless the line is clear not only upto the Starter but also for an adequate distance beyond it and in addition for automatic working, direction of the block section ahead is not set in opposite. (2) Last Stop signal- The Last Stop signal shall not be taken ‘OFF’ for a train unless the direction of traffic has been established and the line is clear up to the next Automatic Stop signal, or when the next Stop signal is a Manual or Semi Automatic Stop signal for an adequate distance beyond it.” [F.
