The following Notification GSR No. 1187(E) dated the 30th December, 2016 issued by the Government of India, Ministry of Shipping and published in Part II Section 3 sub-section (i) of the Extraordinary issue of the Gazette of India, dated 30th December, 2016 is republished hereunder as required under Section 132(2) of the Major Port Trusts Act, 1963 :- G.S.R. No. 1187 (E) – In exercise of the powers conferred by Sub-section (1) of Section 124, read with Sub-section(1) of Section 132 of the Major Port Trusts Act, 1963 (38 of 1963), the Central Government hereby approves the Chennai Port Trust Employees’ (Recruitment, Seniority and Promotion) Amendment Regulations, 2016 made by the Board of Trustees for the Port of Chennai and are set out in the Schedule annexed to this Notification. 2. The said Amendment Regulations shall come into force on the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette. SCHEDULE CHENNAI PORT TRUST Chennai Port Trust Employees’ (Recruitment, Seniority and Promotion) Amendment Regulations, 2016 In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 28 of the Major Port Trusts Act, 1963 (38 of 1963), the Board of Trustees of the Port of Chennai hereby makes the following regulations further to amend the Chennai Port Trust Employees’ (Recruitment, Seniority and Promotion) Regulations, 2008 namely:-. 1. Short Title and Commencement:- (i) These Regulations may be called as Chennai Port Trust Employees’ (Recruitment, Seniority and Promotion) Amendment Regulations, 2016. (ii) They shall come into force on the date of publication of the approval of the Central Government as required under the provisions of Section 124 and 132 of the Major Port Trusts Act, 1963 in the Gazette of India. 2. In the Chennai Port Trust Employees’ (Recruitment, Seniority and Promotion) Regulations, 2008, in Regulation 4, the last sentence of paragraph one “The normal period of deputation ……. five years.”, shall be substituted by the following:- “The normal period of deputation is 3 years which is extendable to 4 years. In exceptional circumstances, this can be extended to 5 years by the Central Government in case of a post, the incumbent of which is regarded as the Head of a Department; and in the case of any other post below the level of Head of Department by the Chairman.” Foot Note: Principal Regulations published vide GSR No.17 (E) dated 7th January 2009.
