NOTIFICATION The draft of the following rules further to amend the Karnataka Educational Institutions (Recognition of Primary and Secondary Schools) Rules, 1999, which the Government of Karnataka proposes to make in exercise of the powers conferred by section 145 of the Karnataka Education Act, 1983 (Karnataka Act 1 of 1995), is hereby published as required by sub-section (1) of section 145 of the said Act, for the information of all persons likely to be affected thereby and notice is hereby given that the said draft will be taken into consideration after fifteen days from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette. Any objection or suggestion which may be received by the State Government from any person with respect to the said draft before the expiry of the period specified above will be considered by the State Government. The objections and suggestions may be addressed to the Principal Secretary to Government, Department of School Education and Literacy, M.S.Building, Dr.B.R. Ambedkar Veedhi, Bengaluru-560001. DRAFT RULES 1. Title and commencement.- (1) These rules may be called the Karnataka Educational Institutions (Recognition of Primary and Secondary Schools) (Amendment) Rules, 2024. (1)R.N.I. No. RNP/KA/BGS/2202/2017-19 Licensed to post without prepayment WPP No. 297 2 (2) They shall come into force from the date of their final publication in the official Gazette. 2. Amendment of rule 3.- In Karnataka Educational Institutions (Recognition of Primary and Secondary Schools) Rules, 1999 (hereinafter referred as said rules), in rule 3, after sub-rule (4), and entries related thereunder the following shall be inserted. namely:- "(4(a) In case the application with processing fee for recognition is rejected the processing fee shall be valid for maximum three times for recognition in the same academic year. (b) Where an application by a private educational institution is rejected three times in the same academic year, such institution shall submit a fresh application with a further non-refundable fee as specified in sub-rule (2) of rule 3." 3. Amendment of rule 4.- In rule 4 of the said rules, in sub-rule(3), for the words "and shall be for minimum period of ten years", the words "and shall be for period of ten years for the first time renewal and permanent for the next time subject to provisions of sections 36 and 39 of the Act," shall be substituted.
