**Policy Summary: Mangoldoi-Mazikuchi Road Project Approval under NESIDS-Roads**
On August 6, 2025, the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) sanctioned the Mangoldoi-Mazikuchi road project in Assam, with a total cost of Rs. 45.31 crore. This project, announced on August 7, 2025, aims to construct a 15 km road stretch from KM 11000 to KM 26200.
The project falls under the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS-Roads), a fully Government of India funded initiative monitored by MDoNER in collaboration with the Assam state government.
The road will directly connect Mangaldoi (Darrang District HQ) and Bhergaon (Udalguri District Subdivision HQ), reducing the distance between the two locations by 7.2 kilometers. The project is expected to improve accessibility to seven educational institutions, including Deomornoi College, and enhance connectivity to tourist sites such as Pathurighat Krishak Shahid Memorial, Khotora Satra, Historical Lakhimpur Pukhuri, and Ramgaon Pukhuri.
MDoNER oversees the development of the North Eastern Region through flagship schemes, including PMDevINE, NESIDS (Roads), NESIDS (OTRI), and Schemes of North Eastern Council (NEC).
