From the Engineer-in-Chief(PH), Hyderabad, Lr.No.17004/ T4/VOL9/2010 dt:30.3.2012. ***** ORDER: The Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Tirupati in the letter first read above has reported that Tirupati Municipality draws water from Kalyani Dam near Tirupati and from Kailasagiri reservoir, near SriKalahasthi. Major quantity is being drawn form Kailasagiri reservoir only. TTD draws about 12 lakh gal/day from Kalyani Dam and pump the same to Tirumala. In view of limited storage available in Kalyani Dam, part of the Tirupati Town and TTD Institutions are facing water crisis. 2. The Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Tirupati has further reported in view of acute shortage in water supplies from Kalyani dam and Kailasagiri reservoir, Tirupati Municipality is supplying water on alternate days to Tirupati Town and as well as to TTD Institutions at Tirupati. Particularly to the hospitals, the supplies have drastically come down. To make matters worse, there is depletion of ground water table and several bores have gone dry. He has therefore submitted the proposal to provide pumps, motors, tanks e.t.c., for improvement of water supply to Tirupati Municipal Corporation, TTD Institutions, Colleges, Hospitals e.t.c., at Tirupati Town. 3. The Engineer-in-Chief (PH), Hyderabad in his letter in the reference fifth read above has informed that, as per the decision in the review meeting held on 27.12.2011 a detailed project report has been prepared for augmentation of water supply to Tirupathi Town with KP Canal as source with a cost of Rs.30.00 Crores with current SSR 2011-12 rates. Surplus water will be spared to TTD on cost sharing basis. The TTD vide resolution No.549, Dated:03.03.2012 has resolved to contribute an amount of Rs.7.317 Crores for supplying 10 MLD of treated water. Accordingly, the District Collector, Chittoor has requested the Government to release balance amount of Rs.22.683 Crores. 4. The Engineer-in-Chief (Public Health) has therefore requested the Government to accord administrative Sanction for Tirupati Water Supply Improvement Scheme with K.P. canal as source with an estimated cost of Rs.30.00 Crores (with TTD contribution of Rs.7.317 Crores and balance (P.T.O):: 2 :: amount of Rs.22.683 Crores from the Government Grants) and also requested to release the additional grant of Rs.22.683 Crores (30.00 - 7.317 = 22.683 Crores) for taking up of the above Water Supply Improvement Scheme to the Tirupathi Municipal Corporation. 5. Accordingly, Government after careful examination of the matter, hereby accord administrative sanction for Tirupati Water Supply improvement scheme with K.P. Canal as source with an estimated cost of Rs.30.00 Crores with the following funding pattern: i. Rs.7.317 Crores shall be borne by the Tirumala Tirupathi Devastanams. ii. Rs.22.683 Crores shall be met from the funds under the relevant head of “Assistance to Municipalities under State Finance Commission Grants under Non-Plan of Director of Municipal Administration”, as the scheme is meant to improve civic amenities in the ULB 6. The Engineer-in-Chief (Public Health), Hyderabad and Director of Municipal Administration, Hyderabad shall take necessary further action accordingly in the matter. 7.
