The National Academy of Direct Taxes, Regional Campus (NADT–RC), Mumbai, will organize a
Purple Fair on 3rd December 2025 at the Income Tax Office, Kautilya Bhawan, Bandra–Kurla
Complex (BKC), Mumbai. The event is being conducted under the Awareness Generation &
Publicity (AGP) Scheme of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities,
Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India.
NADT–RC Mumbai, an ISO 9001:2015 certified institution, is responsible for the professional
training and capacity-building of officers and officials of the Income Tax Department across the
Mumbai and Pune regions. The Principal Additional Director General, NADT–RC Mumbai, Shri
Navneet Manohar, informed that the Purple Fair is being organised an initiative to promote
disability inclusion and accessibility awareness. The fair will serve as an inclusive platform to
celebrate the diverse abilities of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and highlight their
contributions in fields such as art, music, dance, sports, and entrepreneurship.
Several organizations and NGOs working in the disability sector—such as the National
Association for the Blind and the Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and
Hearing Disabilities, among others—have been invited to showcase their best practices and
initiatives.
The event will feature experience-sharing sessions and open-mic performances by PwD officers
and officials. A cultural programme presented by PwD officials of the Income Tax Department,
along with performances by children from special schools, will be the highlight of the event.
Games and recreational activities, including chess and carrom, will also be organized for PwD
personnel of the Department.
As part of the Fair, a variety of stalls supported by NGOs will display and offer for sale products
created by entrepreneurs with disabilities. These will include items such as jute torans, gajra
torans, mogra torans, spices, candles, clove candle stands, hair accessories, dusters, kitchen
napkins, duplex flowers, keychains, travel bags, doormats, and more. Additionally, cookies,
muffins, and other baked products prepared by PwD entrepreneurs will be available,
encouraging visitors to support PwD-led enterprises.
The event underscores the Department’s continued commitment to empowering employees with
disabilities and acknowledging their contributions to organizational and national development.
Shri Navneet Manohar further informed that NADT–RC Mumbai conducts specially designed
training programmes for PwD officers and officials, focusing on their specific requirements andsupporting their capacity-building and professional advancement. In 2025, two such
programmes have been organized for PwD officials of the Department —one in Mumbai and
another in Pune.
The upcoming Purple Fair reflects the Department’s steadfast dedication to fostering an inclusive
work environment and celebrating the strengths, talents, and achievements of Persons with
Disabilities. The event is expected to receive enthusiastic participation from the officers, staff
members, NGOs, and the local community.
