In a significant initiative to strengthen the turmeric value chain and promote export-
oriented production, National Turmeric Board (NTB) in association with the Spices
Board India, under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, is
organising a Buyer–Seller Meet (BSM) on Turmeric on 09 March 2026 at Hotel VITS,
Nanded. Maharashtra is one of India’s most important turmeric producing regions,
and districts such as Nanded, Hingoli and adjacent districts have gained national
prominence for their high-quality turmeric varieties, including the renowned GI-
tagged Waigaon, Sangli and Vasmat turmerics. The upcoming Buyer–Seller Meet
aims to bring together farmers, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), exporters,
traders, processors, industry representatives, scientists, and policy makers on a
single platform to facilitate direct market linkages and promote quality-compliant
turmeric production aligned with global market requirements.
The event will be graced by the presence of Shri Hemant Patil, Hon'ble MLA and
Chairman, Hon’ble Balasaheb Thakrey Haridra Research and Training Center, Hingoli,
as the Guest of Honour. Dr. Indra Mani, Vice Chancellor of Vasantrao Naik
Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth (VNMKV), Parbhani, and Shri Rahul Kardile, IAS,
District Collector, Nanded, who will be the distinguished guests at the event.
Further strengthening the national perspective of the programme, Smt. N. Bhavani
Sri, IAS, Secretary of the National Turmeric Board, will deliver the keynote address
focusing on the policy framework and strategic initiatives aimed at advancing the
turmeric sector of India. The event will also witness the participation of prominent
officials and experts from the agriculture and industries departments of the
Government of Maharashtra, who will share insights on government support
mechanisms for turmeric farmers and agri-processing industries.
The technical sessions during the meet will feature expert presentations on key
topics such as scientific organic turmeric cultivation, Integrated Pest Management
(IPM) practices, export quality standards, residue compliance, post-harvest
management, and emerging global market opportunities for turmeric. The
programme will also highlight grassroots success stories through experience-sharing
sessions by progressive farmers who will share their practical insights onsustainable cultivation and market engagement.
One of the most important components of the event will be the structured Buyer–
Seller Interaction Session, where exporters, traders, processors, and Farmer
Producer Organizations will engage directly with farmers to discuss quality
requirements, procurement opportunities, pricing mechanisms, and long-term
supply arrangements.
Through this initiative, National Turmeric Board (NTB) aims to enhance awareness
on export-compliant turmeric production, strengthen farmer–industry linkages, and
promote value addition and market access for turmeric growers in Maharashtra,
thereby contributing to the vision of positioning India as a global leader in high-
