Need for upgradation of infrastructure and healthcare facilities at Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in Solapur, Maharashtra- Laid SUSHRI PRANITI SUSHILKUMAR SHINDE (SOLAPUR): This is to draw the attention of the Hon?ble Minister for Health and Family Welfare to the urgent need for upgradation of infrastructure and healthcare facilities at Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in Solapur, Maharashtra. Several PHCs are operating from inadequately sized and dilapidated buildings lacking barrier-free access for persons with disabilities, elderly patients, pregnant women and those with limited mobility. Basic amenities such as ramps, handrails, accessible toilets and adequate waiting areas are absent, making healthcare services difficult to access for vulnerable sections. Further, most PHCs lack essential diagnostic facilities such as laboratory testing units, ECG and ultrasound machines. Owing to absence of equipment and trained technicians, rural patients are forced to travel long distances for routine investigations, increasing out-of-pocket expenditure and delaying timely treatment. There is also an acute shortage of trained personnel including laboratory technicians and radiographers. Equipment already supplied remains non-functional due to lack of maintenance mechanisms. The Ministry is requested to conduct a comprehensive assessment of PHCs in Solapur and undertake time-bound upgradation of buildings, diagnostic facilities, deployment of trained technicians and maintenance systems with dedicated funds for annual upkeep.
