Need to ensure impartial judicial inquiry into alleged police high-handedness on protesters in Delhi and need to address their grievances with dialogues-Laid SHRI M. K. RAGHAVAN (KOZHIKODE): The recent student protests in Delhi are a powerful reminder that the youth of this country are demanding answers, not confrontation. Instead of responding to peaceful expressions of dissent with empathy and dialogue, the Government has chosen a path marked by intimidation, excessive use of force, and suppression of democratic voices. Reports of students being manhandled, detained, and subjected to harsh police action raise serious concerns about the protection of fundamental rights guaranteed under the Constitution. Students are the architects of India's future, and their concerns regarding education, frequent paper leaks, unemployment, campus governance, rising costs, and shrinking opportunities deserve thoughtful consideration rather than coercive action. A democracy is strengthened when governments listen to criticism, not when they silence it. The continued use of force against young citizens only deepens mistrust and alienates an entire generation. The Government must immediately ensure an impartial judicial inquiry into the incidents of violence, hold those responsible accountable, and guarantee that students can exercise their democratic rights peacefully and without fear. Meaningful engagement with student representatives, transparent communication, and a sincere commitment to addressing their grievances are the only lasting solutions. India's youth deserve respect, justice, and a government that listens before it acts.
