Need to establish an Office of Regional Provident Fund Commissioner at Palakkad, Kerala-Laid SHRI V. K. SREEKANDAN (PALAKKAD): The Provident Fund account holders from Palakkad district now have to travel either to Kozhikode or Thrissur which are far away from Palakkad, for issues related to their provident fund account, which is not only time taking but also expensive. The most affected people are those who retired from services and old aged/ physically handicapped and seeking settlement of their accounts and issues relating to EPF Pension, etc. This is in contradictory to the fact that Palakkad is the second largest industrial district in the State of Kerala.
Palakkad deserves to have a Regional Provident Fund Commissioner's Office as it has the numbers of provident fund accounts. Moreover, the industrial activities in the district is already picking up and it is further expected to increase manifold as work on the proposed Kochi-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor and a Hi Tech Industrial Smart City projects are progressing and it will attract many multinational companies and Indian corporate companies to put up their business establishments here in Palakkad. This will provide employment for over a lakh of people. I urge upon the Government to establish an office of Regional Provident Fund Commissioner at Palakkad urgently in the interest of Provident Fund account holders.
