Need to expedite approval to the Outer Ring Road Project
from Vizhinjam to Navaikkulam in Kerala and disburse
compensation to the landowners whose lands were acquired
for the project-Laid
ADV. ADOOR PRAKASH (ATTINGAL): Immediate attention of the
Government is necessary to clear the uncertainty over the Outer
Ring Road Project from Vizhinjam to Navaikkulam in Kerala. Union
Government has granted in-principal approval to the DPR of this
project but the environmental clearances issues have not been
cleared yet. The inordinate delay in the approval for this project is
causing great difficulties to the land owners whose property and
land are earmarked. The land owners who voluntarily handed over
the documents years ago are still waiting for compensation. Around
6500 land owners are suffering as they are unable to meet their
emergency financial needs and they are agitating over the delay in
disbursement of compensation. Immediate intervention of Union
and State Government is required to resolve the issues and
disbursement of compensation to the land owners. I request the
Government to take necessary measures on priority and do final
approval for this project without further delay.
