Posted On: 08 OCT 2026 3:47PM by PIB Delhi The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), India has taken suo motu cognizance of a media report that in Kiratpur of Darbhanga district in Bihar, a Government Primary School roof continues to be temporarily supported by wooden benches, desks and bricks underneath after the main pillar holding it had collapsed three to four months ago.

Reportedly, it is a risk to the safety of about 191 students and school staff.

The Commission has observed that the contents of the news report, if true, raise serious issues of human rights violations. Therefore, it has issued a notice to the Darbhanga District Magistrate, calling for a detailed report on the matter within two weeks.
