NOTIFICATION The Government of Karnataka vide its Notification No. SARIE 48 SAEPA 2018, dated:26.03.2018, order to extend the number of auto rickshaw permits from 1,25,000 to 1,55,000 for the next 05 years under the powers conferred by Section 74(3)(a) of Motor Vehicle Act 1988. Bengaluru City has experienced an unprecedented population growth throwing varied challenges of urbanization resulting in new layouts formed by BBMP. Due to tremendous increase in floating population of the city, a. demand for Auto rickshaws permits have increased. Keeping in view of these developments and in order to control the menace of Air and Noise pollution in Bangalore City, it is felt necessary to introduce LPG/CNG Auto rickshaws. To avoid the unnecessary competition for auto rickshaw permit and to curb the black marketing of Auto rickshaw permits, it is necessary to relax the quota limit fixed for Auto rickshaw permits. After detail examination, the Government in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 74(3)(a) of Motor Vehicle Act 1988, it is decided to enhance the existing quota of Auto rickshaw permits from 1,55,000 to 2,55,000 for the next 05 years period within Bengaluru city with the following conditions. 1. Permit has to be granted for green auto rickshaws fitted with four stroke BSVI, with authorized LPG/CNG/ Electric kits and digital fare meters. 2.
