NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 30th July, 2024
G.S.R. 469(E).—WHEREAS the proviso to section 6 of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act,
1981 (14 of 1981) provides that in relation to any Union territory the Central Pollution Control Board may delegate all
or any of its powers and functions under this section to such persons as the Central Government may specify;
AND WHEREAS the Central Pollution Control Board has delegated all its powers and functions
vested under the said Act in respect of the Union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands to a Committee
vide notification number S.O. 39 (E), dated the 16th January, 1992 published in the Gazette of India,
Extraordinary, Part-II, Section 3, Sub- section (ii).
NOW THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 19 of the Air
(Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 (14 of 1981), and rule 8 of the Air ( Prevention and Control of
Pollution) (Union Territories) Rules, 1983, the Central Government, after consultation with the Andaman and Nicobar
Administration Pollution Control Committee, hereby declares the following areas as air pollution control area in the
Union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands namely :-
1. Baratang,
