Ministry of Tribal Affairs Ongoing Celebrations of Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada Continue Across the Country with Cultural and Educational Activities Posted On: 11 NOV 2025 7:18PM by PIB Delhi In continuation of the Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh (JJGV) Pakhwada celebrations being observed from 1st to 15th November 2025, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, is organizing a series of programmes across the country through its Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs), Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs), and partner institutions. These activities, held under the banner of Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh, commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Dharti Aaba Bhagwan Birsa Munda and aim to promote awareness, cultural pride, and inclusivity among tribal communities. In Odisha, the Tribal Research Institute organized a special programme for tribal students, highlighting the contributions and legacy of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and engaging youth in discussions on tribal identity and empowerment. The Odisha State Tribal Museum also conducted drawing and quiz competitions for school students, encouraging creative engagement with themes of tribal heritage and cultural continuity.In Jharkhand, an educational tour was organized for over 500 students from three schools to visit the Tribal Museum located within the campus of the Tribal Research Institute, Ranchi, on 11th November 2025. The visit provided students with an immersive learning experience, acquainting them with the rich cultural heritage, traditional artifacts, and historical contributions of tribal communities from the region. The initiative aimed to foster awareness and pride among young learners about their indigenous roots.In Arunachal Pradesh, the Rajiv Gandhi University TRI organised a quiz competition on the eve of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, focusing on tribal history and freedom movements. Students of EMRS, Tizit, took part in a vibrant display of traditional tribal attire, aimed at preserving and showcasing their rich cultural legacy. Adding to the festive spirit, the Galo women’s group from West Siang District presented a soulful traditional folk song celebrating tribal unity and cultural expression.In Ladakh, the Tribal Research Institute, Kargil Campus, University of Ladakh, hosted an interactive session on the traditional art of Pabu making—an age-old craft deeply rooted in the region’s cultural fabric. The initiative sought to revive traditional craftsmanship and highlight its role in sustaining Ladakh’s indigenous heritage. The state of Goa celebrated the Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada through two major events—the Janjatiya Sanskrutik Sammelan at Sanvordem and the Adivasi Khel Utsav at Quepem. These programmes showcased traditional tribal music, dance, sports, and community participation, celebrating Goa’s vibrant tribal culture.In Andhra Pradesh, the State-Level Tribal Sports and Games Inauguration Ceremony was held at GITAM University, Visakhapatnam. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of tribal youth and sportspersons, emphasizing physical fitness, sportsmanship, and cultural pride among tribal communities.In Nagaland, a community-based tourism initiative was held at the tribal village of Temi Tarku, highlighting the potential of sustainable tourism in promoting local livelihoods, preserving ecological balance, and celebrating indigenous culture. As part of the event, a traditional Tug of War competition was also organized, fostering community spirit, participation, and sportsmanship among the local youth..The North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) also contributed to the celebrations by organizing an International Conference on Mental Health. The conference focused on traditional healing practices and community-based approaches to mental wellness among tribal societies, blending modern research with indigenous wisdom. In Telangana, a meeting with Tahsildars of Mulugu District was convened by the Revenue Divisional Officer at ITDA Hall, Eturunagaram, to review the implementation of tribal development programmes in the region. Additionally, awareness sessions were held to encourage tribal youth towards self- employment, skill development, and livelihood generation, aligning with the broader goals of the Ministry’s empowerment initiatives.These events, organized under the ongoing Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada, reflect the Ministry’s commitment to celebrating tribal identity, preserving cultural heritage, and empowering tribal communities. Under the visionary leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs continues to honour the legacy of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and uphold the spirit of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas. As part of these efforts, a nationwide “Jan Sunwai” (Public Hearing) will be organised on 13th November 2025 across more than 56,000 Adi Sewa Kendras in the country. The initiative aims to provide a platform for grievance redressal, multi-department service delivery, and community participation in local development. It will also review the progress of the Village Vision Plan and strengthen the engagement of Adi Saathis and Adi Sahayogis in ensuring last-mile service delivery.
