CHANDRASHEKHAR: Will the PRIME MINISTER be pleased to state: (a) the details of State Governments, urban local bodies and Panchayati Raj Institutions accessing space-based data and platforms; and (b) the steps proposed to expand access, including capacity building, cost rationalization and technical support? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF PERSONNEL, PUBLIC GRIEVANCES & PENSIONS AND IN THE PRIME MINISTER’S OFFICE (DR. JITENDRA SINGH): **** (a) 28 states Governments, 485 Urban Local bodies and 2,52,487 Panchayati Raj Institutions access space-based data and platforms hosted by DoS. (b) Department has taken following steps to expand access to space-based data: I. Conducting of regular trainings, workshops, online webinars and user-oriented outreach on usage of space-based data and applications for government functionaries. II. Remote sensing data of GSD of 5 meters and higher, is made easily accessible on “free and open” basis to all. Remote sensing data of GSD better than 5 meters, being made available free of any charges to Government entities. III. Strengthening of existing technical support provided through workshops, standardised data services and dedicated support to users facilitating effective data utilisation ****
