Will the Minister of ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY be pleased to state:
(a) the total number of beneficiaries who have received Information Technology (IT) training under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (PMGDISHA) during the last five years and the current year across various States of the country;
(b) the percentage of Anganwadi and ASHA workers beneficiaries across these States including Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh along with Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli; and
(c) the manner in which technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics have been included under the said Abhiyan? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SHRI JITIN PRASADA)
(a) to (c): The Digital India programme was launched by the Government of India in line with Honโble Prime Ministerโs vision to democratize technology and empower citizens.
Under this Programme, the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (PMGDISHA) was launched with an emphasis on basic digital literacy. The advanced domains such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics were not part of its core focus.
The Scheme was one of the worldโs largest digital literacy initiatives aimed at reaching digital literacy in 6 crore rural households (one person per household) nationwide. The scheme concluded on 31st March, 2024.
