Parliament Question: Air Connectivity from Chandigarh Airport

SHRI MALVINDER SINGH KANG Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION be pleased to state:- (a) whether the Government proposes to introduce direct or convenient air connectivity from Chandigarh Airport to Nanded, Maharashtra considering the significant movement of pilgrims to Takht Sri Hazur Sahib and if so, the details thereof; (b) whether any proposal or request has been received in this regard and if so, the details and the present status thereof including the expected timeline fixed therefor; and (c) if not, whether the Government proposes to examine the feasibility of providing such air connectivity in the interest of promoting religious tourism and public convenience and if so, the details thereof? ANSWER Minister of CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu) (a) to (c): A statement is laid on the Table of the House. ******STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (A) TO (C) IN RESPECT OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 263 FOR ANSWER ON 06.08.2026 REGARDING "AIR CONNECTIVITY FROM CHANDIGARH AIRPORT" ASKED BY SHRI MALVINDER SINGH KANG. (a) to (c): Passengers travel between two destinations either through direct flights or by taking connecting flights via an intermediate transit point. Chandigarh is currently connected to 21 destinations. Nanded is connected to eight destinations, namely Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Hindon, Pune, Nagpur, Goa (MOPA) and Mumbai. With the repeal of the Air Corporations Act in March 1994, the Indian domestic aviation has been deregulated. Airlines are free to induct capacity with any aircraft type, free to select whatever markets and network they wish to service depending on their operational & commercial viability. *****
