(b) the details of financial assistance sanctioned by the Government for fisheries infrastructure
in Kerala during the last three years; and
(c) the time by which the pending projects will get approval and implemented?
ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF FISHERIES, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRYING
(SHRI RAJIV RANJAN SINGH ALIAS LALAN SINGH)
(a) The proposal for construction of Ajanur Fishing Harbour in Kasargod District in Kerala
was submitted by the Government of Kerala for financial assistance under Pradhan Mantri
Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY). The proposal was examined and found to be economically
unviable due to its proximity to existing fishing harbours, high construction costs, additional
costs in environmental mitigation measures and limited number of mechanized fishing vessels
belonging to Ajanur. These reasons were communicated to the Government of Kerala. No
revised proposal for Ajanur Fishing Harbour has been received from the Government of Kerala.
(b) During the last three financial years from 2023-24 to 2025-26, funds to the tune of Rs
192.94 Crore was released under the Centrally Sponsored Component of PMMSY for fisheries
development projects including fishing harbour infrastructure to the Government of Kerala.
During 2026-27, a mother sanction of Rs 30 crore was issued to Government of Kerala. In
addition, Rs 25 Crore was also released under central sector component of PMMSY for fishing
harbour infrastructure.
(c) The Department of Fisheries, Government of India has processed all proposals for
fisheries infrastructure received from Kerala, and no proposal is pending for approval at present.
