GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF AYUSH LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 88 TO BE ANSWERED ON 5th DECEMBER, 2025 โAll India Institute of Ayurveda, Delhiโ โ *88. Shri Ramvir Singh Bidhuri:
Will the Minister of AYUSH be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has any plan to expand the All India Institute of Ayurveda in Sarita Vihar, Delhi and if so, the details thereof along with the amount of funds likely to be spent in this regard;
(b) the number of patients currently visiting the All India Institute of Ayurveda every day along with the total numbers of beds in this Institute;
(c) whether minor surgeries are also conducted in the said institute;
(d) whether the said institute also offers treatment under different systems of medicine other than Ayurveda and if so, the details thereof; and
(e) whether there is any proposal to set up branches of the said institute and if so, the details thereof? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE (IC) OF THE MINISTRY OF AYUSH (SHRI PRATAPRAO JADHAV)

1Statement referred to in reply to parts (a) to (e) of Lok Sabha Starred Question No. 88 for 05.12.2025 regarding โAll India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi, Sarita Viharโ
(a) The Government is expanding the facilities at the AIIA, Sarita Vihar, under AIIA Ph- II project. This expansion will provide an additional 200 bedded hospital and also accommodation facilities to the staff and the students of the Institute. The sanctioned cost of the project is Rs.289.05 Cr.
The Government is further expanding the facilities of AIIA, Sarita Vihar under Ph-III project for which additional 12 acre of land adjoining to the Institute has already been acquired at a cost of Rs.68.79 Cr.
(b) The number of patients currently visiting the Out Patient Departments (OPDs) of AIIA, everyday are 1700 approximately, and the total number of beds available in In Patient Department (IPD) of this Institute is 200. Further, the Satellite Centre of AIIA, Goa is having capacity of 168 beds in IPD and have more than 800 patient footfall in various OPDs every day.
(c) Minor Surgical procedure based on Ayurvedic techniques such as Kshara-sutra, Agnikarma, leech therapy is performed in the Institute.
(d) The AIIA, New Delhi being apex institute of Ayurveda and Super Specialty Centre in the field of Ayurveda, primarily focus on Ayurveda treatment. However, in addition to Ayurveda, the Institute also offers treatments under several other medical systems such as Unani, Homeopathy, Yoga, Siddha (General OPD), Siddha Integrated Cancer OPD, and certain OPDs run in integration with modern system of medicine like Emergency OPD, Centre for Integrative Dentistry, Centre of Integrative Oncology, Centre of Integrative Orthopaedics.
(e) AIIA, New Delhi has its satellite centre at Goa and wellness centres/ OPD at Safdarjung Hospital, Supreme Court of India, National Cancer Institute (NCI) Jhajjar, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Kewadia, and Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration.
