Parliament Question: Allocation of funds under Corporate Social Responsibility

Shri Arun Kumar Sagar: Will the Minister of CORPORATE AFFAIRS be pleased to state: (a) whether various Government undertakings have allocated funds under CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) during the last three years and till date; (b) if so, the details of the amount of funds spent in the country, particularly in the Scheduled Castes dominated areas, along with the location-wise number of beneficiaries benefited thereunder during the said period, undertaking-wise, district- wise and item-wise; (c) whether the Government proposes to take any effective steps to spend CSR funds, especially in Backward and Scheduled Castes dominated areas in the country; (d) if so, whether the Scheduled Tribes dominated areas of the country, especially the Shahjahanpur Lok Sabha Parliamentary Constituency in Uttar Pradesh have been included in the proposal; and (e) if so, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF CORPORATE AFFAIRS AND MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS [SHRI HARSH MALHOTRA] (a): Yes, sir. (b): On the basis of annual filings, the State-wise and development sector-wise details of CSR expenditure incurred by the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) in India for the last three financial years (FYs) i.e. 2021-22 to 2023-24 is attached at Annexure-I & II, respectively. Data is not maintained centrally for CSR expenditure on any particular community or areas dominated by any particular community. Data regarding CSR expenditure district-wise, company-wise, PSU / NON-PSU-wise, State-wise, development sector-wise, etc. are available on public domain at www.csr.gov.in. (c): As per provisions of the Companies Act, 2013, CSR is a Board driven process and the Board of the company is empowered to plan, decide, execute and monitor CSR activities of the company based on the recommendation of its CSR Committee. The Government does not issue any directions to Corporates to spend in any particular area or activity or for any particular community.
