Allocation to Rashtriya Uchchtar Shiksha Abhiyan
4198 Shri Ryaga Krishnaiah:
Will the Minister of Education be pleased to state:
(a) the salient features of Rashtriya Uchchtar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA);
(b) the details of funds allocated and number of higher education institutes benefited by this
scheme in Andhra Pradesh, district-wise;
(c) the number of new universities and colleges established under the Rashtriya Uchchatar
Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) in the last five years in Andhra Pradesh, district-wise;
(d) the details of funds allocated and disbursed and utilised under RUSA for the
establishment of new institutions in Andhra Pradesh, year-wise and district-wise; and
(e) the current status of the above projects funded and milestones achieved?

(a): The government launched the third phase of Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan
(RUSA) in June 2023 in the form of Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA),
with an outlay of Rs. 12,926.10 crore, including the committed liabilities of the earlier phases
of RUSA, for the period 2023-24 to 2025-26, to cater to the needs of educationally unserved/
underserved areas. PM-USHA is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme aimed at funding specific
State government universities and colleges, so as to improve their quality by ensuring their
conformity to prescribed norms and standards.
(b): Since of inception of the scheme, a total of 167 units have been approved in the State
of Andhra Pradesh, with a total approved amount of Rs.1218.72 crore. The district-wise
details of the number of approved units are at Annexure.
(c) to (e): Under the scheme, financial support is provided to establish Government Degree
Colleges under the component of New Model Degree Colleges (NMDC). In the various
phases of the scheme, support has been approved for establishing Model Degree Colleges
in eight districts of Andhra Pradesh, with a total approved amount of Rs. 94.66 crore. The
