Parliament Question: Amendments in Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Act, 2019

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO - 3765 ANSWERED ON - 25/03/2026 AMENDMENTS IN MOTOR VEHICLE (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2019 3765. SHRI NEERAJ DANGI: Will the Minister of ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS be pleased to state: (a) whether Government is planning to make any amendment to the Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Act, 2019 to improve road safety in the country; (b) if so, the details thereof; (c) whether Government has received any suggestion from stakeholders on the published draft; (d) whether any amendment has been made in the Section 112 which deals with limits of speed; and (e) if so, the details thereof? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS (SHRI NITIN JAIRAM GADKARI) (a) to (e). Government accords high priority to road safety in the country. The amendment to the Act is a consultative procedure and several meetings are organized at various fora to deliberate on the amendments with all the concerned stakeholders including States/Union Territories and inter-ministerial consultations. *****
