Will the Minister of WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:
(a) the number of operational Anganwadi Centres alongwith the details of their funding
pattern in Rajasthan, particularly in the districts of Jhalawar and Baran;
(b) the estimated impact of the Government’s initiative to establish Anganwadi-cum-
Creche Centres by 2029 with regard to enhancement of early childhood care and
education and women’s participation in the workforce across the country; and
(c) the range of services proposed to be provided through Anganwadi-cum-Creche
Centres, especially for supporting child development and early education in rural
regions such as Jhalawar–Baran in Rajasthan?

(a) A total number of 62,276 Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) are operational in the State of
Rajasthan, out of which 1514 and 1689 AWCs are operational from district of Jhalawar
and Baran respectively as per Poshan Tracker data. Under the Scheme, Government of
India releases grants-in-aid to the State of Rajasthan on the following cost-sharing ratio
between Centre and State:

(b) & (c): Ministry of Women and Child Development has introduced Palna Scheme under
the Samarthya Vertical of Mission Shakti for all States and UTs w.e.f. 01 April 2022, to
provide day care facilities and protection to children.Lack of proper day-care services is, often, a deterrent for women to go out and work. To
address these difficulties faced by the working mothers in giving due care and protection
to their children, day-care crèche facilities are envisioned to be provided through Palna
Scheme to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal 8 – Decent work and economic
growth.
Anganwadi centres are the world's largest childcare institutions dedicated to providing
essential care and support to children ensuring delivery of care facilities till the last mile.
In a first of its kind approach, Ministry extended the services of childcare through
Anganwadi cum Crèche (AWCC) to ensure whole day childcare support for well-being in
a safe and secure environment. The objective of Palna Scheme is to provide quality
crèche facility in safe and secure environment for children from ages 6 months – 6 years,
nutritional support, health and cognitive development of children, growth monitoring &
immunization. Crèche facilities under Palna are provided to all mothers, irrespective of
their employment status across the country including State of Rajasthan.
During the 15th Finance Cycle i.e. up to FY 2025-26, a total of 17,000 Anganwadi-cum-
Creches (AWCCs) are to be established under the Palna Scheme. Till date, a total of
14,599 AWCCs have been approved by the Ministry across 34 States/UTs, as per
proposals received from them. Till date, no proposal has been received from the State of
Rajasthan for setting up and operationalization of Anganwadi-cum-Creches(AWCCs)
under Palna Scheme.
