SHRI RAJA A: Will the Minister of SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT be pleased to state: (a) the details of the total number of cases filed regarding atrocities against Scheduled Castes (SC) during the last three years in the country, State and year-wise; (b) whether any compensation paid to such victims, if so, the details thereof, State-wise; (c) the details of cases undertaken by National, State Legal Service to assist SC victims of these atrocities; and (d) the details of the total number of awareness camps organized under the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act in the country during the last three years, State and year-wise? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT (SHRI RAMDAS ATHAWALE) (a): National Crimes Record Bureau (NCRB) compiles and publishes statistical data on crimes in its publication ‘Crime in India’. The published reports are available till the year 2022. As per the NCRB data, the details of number of Crime/Atrocities registered against Scheduled Castes (SCs), State/UT wise, during the year 2020, 2021 and 2022 is at Annexure-I. (b): The State wise details of funds released under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme for the effective implementation of the Protection of Civil Rights Act, 1955 and the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 and number of atrocity victims provided relief in last three years is at Annexure II. (c): National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) does not maintain data with respect to legal assistance provided to the victims of atrocities. However, the number of SC beneficiaries provided legal assistance in the year 2022, 2023 and 2024 is at Annexure-III. (d): The Department of Social Justice & Empowerment is implementing a Centrally Sponsored Scheme, under which Central Assistance is provided to the States/UTs for effective implementation of the Protection of Civil Rights Act, 1955; the Scheduled Castes (SCs) and the Scheduled Tribes (STs) (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989. Under the Scheme, funds are also released for publicity and awareness activities.
