Availability of Petroleum Products in Thanjavur

Will the Minister of PETROLEUM AND NATURAL GAS be pleased to state:
(a) the number of LPG connections released under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in
Thanjavur district during the last five years;
(b) the status of City Gas Distribution network expansion covering Thanjavur district during the
same period;
(c) the details of the number of retail outlets for petroleum products operating in the district; and
(d) the number of complaints received regarding fuel adulteration or short supply during the
same period and the status of such complaints?

(a): Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) was launched in May, 2016 with an objective to
provide deposit free LPG connection to adult women from poor households. As on 01.07.2026,
there were about 10.58 Cr. PMUY connections in the country, including 1.41 lakh PMUY
Connections in the Thanjavur District of Tamil Nadu. During the last five financial years, OMCs
have released 0.38 lakh PMUY Connections in Thanjavur District, Tamil Nadu.
(b): Thanjavur district is a single Geographical Area (GA) comprising of Pudukottai, Sivaganga
and Thanjavur Districts authorized for development of City Gas Distribution (CGD) Network.
During the last five financial years, the authorized CGD entity has provided NIL Domestic PNG
Connection, established 9 CNG stations and laid 195 pipeline inch-km in GA.
(c): There is a network of 233 retail outlets across PSU OMCs in Thanjavur district.
(d): During the last five financial years across OMCs, only one complaint was received by PSU
OMCs in Thanjavur district regarding fuel adulteration or short supply which was satisfactorily
resolved by HPCL.
