AVAILABILITY OF UNRESERVED COACHES AT BOTH ENDS OF TRAIN RAKES
629. SHRI RAJABHAU PARAG PRAKASH WAJE:
Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state:
(a) whether it has taken cognisance of the fact that there are instances of
train rakes having unreserved/GS coaches at only one end of the rake as
opposed to earlier practice of having such coaches at both the ends of the
rake;
(b) if so, the reason of the said changes;
(c) whether the Government has taken cognisance that people usually
travelling by unreserved class have large luggage and if there are no GS
coaches at both the ends, they have to run from one end of the platform to
other with luggage and family including kids which is not possible where
train halt at a particular station is of short duration, if so, the details thereof;
and
(d) whether the Government is making it mandatory to have at least some
unreserved coaches at both the ends of a rake henceforth and if so, the
details thereof?
ANSWER
MINISTER OF RAILWAYS, INFORMATION & BROADCASTING AND
ELECTRONICS & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
(SHRI ASHWINI VAISHNAW)
(a) to (d) Keeping in view the convenience of the general class/unreserved
passengers, instructions have already been issued regarding attaching
general class coaches at both ends in the trains, which are having general
class/unreserved coaches. So far, most of the trains, having generalclass/unreserved coaches, have been provided with general class coaches
at both ends. The balance trains, having general class coaches at one end,
have been taken up for attaching it at both ends.
