This document summarizes the Indian Ministry of Women and Child Development's response to a parliamentary question regarding the implementation of Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) under the PM JANMAN mission in Andhra Pradesh, specifically focusing on areas with Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).
The PM JANMAN mission, initiated by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, targets the development of 75 PVTGs across 18 states and one Union Territory through 11 critical interventions spanning nine ministries, including the Ministry of Women and Child Development. A key component involves the sanction of 2500 AWCs, with an allocated construction cost of Rs 12 lakh per AWC, over three financial years (FY 2023-24, 2024-25, and 2025-26) across the country.
As of August 1, 2025, 192 AWCs were sanctioned for Andhra Pradesh. The district-wise breakdown and operational status are as follows: Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) (40 sanctioned, 1 operational), Srikakulam (25 sanctioned, 25 operational), Manyam (10 sanctioned, 7 operational), Prakasam (1 sanctioned, 0 operational), and Vizianagaram (1 sanctioned, 0 operational). The response indicates that the Ministry is actively monitoring the implementation progress, with Minister of State in the Ministry of Women Child Development Shrimati Savitri Thakur providing the information to the Lok Sabha.
