Will the Minister of AYUSH be pleased to state:
(a) the number of new AYUSH facilities established under National AYUSH Mission (NAM)
in Tamil Nadu, especially in Kallakurichi Lok Sabha Constituency during the last three years;
(b) the initiatives taken by the Government to upgrade existing AYUSH hospitals and
dispensaries to provide quality healthcare in State, especially in Kallakurichi Lok Sabha
Constituency;
(c) the steps taken by the Government to train AYUSH personnel and strengthen human
resources in the State, especially in Kallakurichi Lok Sabha Constituency;
(d) the measures implemented by the Government to monitor service delivery, treatment
outcomes and patient satisfaction under National AYUSH Mission (NAM); and
(e) the efforts made by the Government to promote awareness and integration of AYUSH
healthcare in the mainstream public health system in Tamil Nadu?

(a) Under National AYUSH Mission (NAM), as reported by the State Government of Tamil
Nadu, they have established 65 Co-located ISM Wings in different Districts including 02
units in Kallakurichi District and 400 Dispensaries have also been upgraded as Ayushman
Aarogya Mandir (Ayush) including 10 Kallakurichi District during the last three years.
(b). Public health being a State subject, the primary responsibility of upgradation of existing
Ayush hospitals and dispensaries comes under the purview of respective State Government.
However, under NAM, there is provision of financial assistance for upgradation of Ayush
hospitals & dispensaries and accordingly, State Govt. may avail financial assistance by
submitting suitable proposals through State Annual Action Plan (SAAP) as per their felt need
within the existing provision of NAM guideline.
(c) As reported by State Government of Tamil Nadu, specific initiatives have been
undertaken to strengthen Ayush human resources in the Kallakurichi Lok Sabha
Constituency. During 2024–2025, comprehensive training programmes were conducted for
all Ayush Medical Officers at Chengalpattu, covering key thematic and clinical areas.
Further, specialized Training on Musculoskeletal disorders for all Siddha Medical Officers in
Villupuram and Kallakuruchi districts was conducted in May 2025, aimed at improving skills
on diagnosis, management, and delivery of VARMAM therapies.
1(d) Under NAM, the Government monitors service delivery, treatment outcomes and patient
satisfaction through periodic reporting by Ayush health facilities, review meetings at State
and District levels, field inspections, and assessments conducted by monitoring teams. Patient
feedback mechanisms, data reporting through designated portals (AAM Portal), and regular
evaluation of programme indicators are also undertaken to ensure quality and effectiveness of
Ayush services.
(e) Government of India has adopted a strategy of Co-location of Ayush facilities at
Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Community Health Centres (CHCs) and District Hospitals
(DHs) for integration of Ayush healthcare in the mainstream public health system, thus
enabling the choice to the patients for different systems of medicines under a single window.
The engagement of Ayush doctors/ paramedics and their training is being supported by the
Ministry of Health & Family Welfare under National Health Mission (NHM), while the
support for Ayush infrastructure, equipment/ furniture and medicines is being provided by the
Ministry of Ayush under National Ayush Mission (NAM), as shared responsibilities.
Ministry of Ayush is implementing a Central Sector Scheme for Promotion of
Information, Education and Communication (IEC) in Ayush to create awareness regarding
Ayush Systems of Medicine. This scheme aims to reach out to all sections of the population
across the country and under this Scheme, Ministry organizes National/State level Arogya
Fairs, Yoga Fests/Utsavs, Ayurveda Parvs, Celebrate Important Days of Ayush Systems
including Ayurveda day, Participate in Health Fairs/ Melas & Exhibitions, provide financial
assistance for organizing seminars, workshops, conferences and conduct multimedia
campaigns etc.
State Government also reported that awareness on Ayush system is promoted through
regular IEC activities. School Health Programmes, community awareness camps and
outreach activities are conducted by Assistant Medical Officers, Community Health Officers
and District Siddha Medical Officers to educate school students and the general public on
Ayush practices and healthy living under Ayush Health care system.
