Shri Pradeep Purohit: Will the Minister of AYUSH be pleased to state: (a) whether Odisha has no National or State AYUSH University and if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; (b) whether the Government has conducted or proposes to conduct any survey or feasibility study for establishing an AYUSH University/a National Institute of Ayurveda in Odisha, particularly near the Gandhamardan region given that Gandhamardan (Gandhadardhan) Parvat located in Paikmal area of Bargarh district, Odisha, is one of the richest herbal biodiversity zones of India, having more than 2,000 species of medicinal and botanical plants with historical relevance to Ayurveda; (c) if so, the details and the timeline thereof; and (d) whether the Government proposes to establish an AYUSH University or a Centre of Excellence in Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy in Odisha to promote research, conservation of medicinal plants and employment generation for local youth and if so, the details thereof? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE (IC) MINISTRY OF AYUSH (SHRI PRATAPRAO JADHAV) (a) to (c) At present, there is no National or State AYUSH University in the State of Odisha. However, health being a State subject, the matter of establishing a new AYUSH University in any State comes under the domain of the concerned State Government. Further, for establishment of a new AYUSH University/a National Institute of Ayurveda in Odisha, Central Government has not proposed or conducted any survey or feasibility study.
