Parliament Question: Benefits of various Schemes under PMAY-U

O.I.H GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 3177 TO BE ANSWERED ON AUGUST 07, 2025 BENEFITS OF VARIOUS SCHEMES UNDER PMAY-U NO. 3177. SHRI BUNTY VIVEK SAHU: Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS be pleased to state: (a) the details of benefits provided to various categories in Beneficiary-Led Individual House Construction, Affordable Housing in Partnership, Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme and Slum Redevelopment scheme under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) till June, 2025; (b) the number of houses approved, under construction, completed and the progress of the scheme across the country, State-wise and in Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh till June, 2025; (c) whether the Government has given special priority for providing permanent houses to urban poor and low-income individuals in Chhindwara city; (d) if so, the details thereof along with the work done so far and upcoming proposals under the scheme in Chhindwara district; and (e) whether any special provisions are to be considered for the most backward tribes like Bharia etc. in this tribal area and if so, the details thereof? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS (SHRI TOKHAN SAHU) (a) to (e): Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has been implementing Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Urban (PMAY-U) since 25.06.2015 with an aim to provide all weather pucca houses with basic civic amenities to eligible urban beneficiaries across the country including Madhya Pradesh. The scheme period has been extended up to 31.12.2025 to complete sanctioned houses without changing the funding pattern and implementation methodology. Based on the learnings from the experiences of implementation of PMAY-U, MoHUA has revamped the scheme and launched PMAY-U 2.0 ‘Housing for All’ Mission with effect from 01.09.2024 for implementation in urban areas across the country to support 1 crore additional eligible beneficiaries in next five years. PMAY-U 2.0 is implemented through four verticals i.e., Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC), Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP), Affordable Rental Housing (ARH) and Interest Subsidy Scheme (ISS). …2/--2- PMAY-U and PMAY-U 2.0 are demand driven schemes and there are no State/City-wise targets. Selection of beneficiaries under various verticals preferred by the beneficiaries, formulation of projects and execution are done by States/Union Territories (UTs). The proposals under the scheme are approved by the State Level Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (SLSMC) headed by the Chief Secretary of States/UTs for further sanctioning of Central Assistance by Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC). Based on the project proposal submitted by States/UTs, a total of 119.26 lakh houses, including 7.09 lakh under PMAY-U 2.0, have been sanctioned under PMAY-U by the Ministry, so far. Out of which 112.81 lakh houses have been grounded and 93.61 lakh are completed/delivered to the beneficiaries across the country as on 14.07.2025. The State/UT- wise details of total number of houses approved, under construction, completed across the country, including Madhya Pradesh under PMAY-U and PMAY-U 2.0 is at Annexure. Based on the project proposal submitted by State of Madhya Pradesh, a total of 28,448 houses have been sanctioned so far for Chhindwara district under PMAY-U and PMAY-U 2.0, out of which 26,466 (93%) are completed/delivered to the beneficiaries. As per the scheme guidelines of PMAY-U 2.0, preference under the scheme is given to Widows, Single Women, Persons with Disabilities, Senior Citizens, Transgenders, persons belonging to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes, Minorities and other weaker and vulnerable sections of the society including tribes like Bharia. *****Annexure referred in reply to LS USQ No. 3177 due for answer on 07.08.2025 State/UT-wise details of houses sanctioned, grounded and completed under PMAY-U & PMAY-U 2.0 S.
