Parliament Question: Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-II

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 3118 ANSWERED ON 06TH AUGUST, 2026 BHARATMALA PARIYOJANA PHASE-II 3118. DR. PRADEEP KUMAR PANIGRAHY: Will the Minister of ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS सड़क परिवहन औि िाजमार्ग मंत्री be pleased to state: (a) the total length of national highway corridors successfully constructed and opened to traffic under the Bharatmala Pariyojana across the country during the last fiscal year; (b) the status of Phase-II project approvals, particularly concerning the expansion of dedicated multi-lane economic corridors connecting mineral-rich eastern zones to western manufacturing ports; and (c) the share of capital successfully raised through innovative alternative financing routes, such as Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs) and Asset Monetization models, during the same period? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS (SHRI NITIN JAIRAM GADKARI) (a) Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-I was approved in 2017 covering a length of 34,800 km across the country at an estimated outlay of Rs.5,35,000 Crore. Under the program, National Highway (NH) projects covering a total length of 26,425 km had been awarded. Out of this, 22755 km has already been constructed upto June, 2026. In the lastfinancial year 2025-26, about 2212 km of NH has been constructed under Bharatmala Pariyojana. (b) There is no approved scheme by the name of Bharatmala Phase II. New sanctions of projects under Phase-I of Bharatmala Pariyojana have been discontinued and new projects are sanctioned under National Highways (Original) on standalone basis with the approval of Competent Authority considering requirement of connectivity, traffic density and synergy with the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan.
