ANSWER okf.kT; ,oa m|ksx ea=ky; esa jkT;ea=h ¼Jh ftfru izlkn½ THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (SHRI JITIN PRASADA) (a) to (d) BharatTradeNet (BTN), announced in the Union Budget 2025–26, is envisaged as a digital public infrastructure for international trade aimed at facilitating digitisation of trade documentation, enabling interoperable exchange of trade-related data and supporting efficient delivery of services across India’s international trade ecosystem. The initiative also seeks to establish common standards, digital interfaces and trust frameworks to facilitate secure exchange and cross-border recognition of electronic trade documents through identity management and trust services. BTN will support interoperability and digital interaction among stakeholders in the international trade ecosystem, including customs authorities, banks, logistics service providers and other trade facilitation agencies, while leveraging their existing digital systems and infrastructure. 1By consolidating trade documentation and financing solutions onto a singledigital platform and interconnecting key stakeholders BTN will eliminate paper-based procedures, reduce duplication and compliance delays, and enable single-window clearance for exporters and importers. This is expected to lower transaction and logistics costs, shorten turnaround times for trade finance, and thereby enhance the global competitiveness of Indian goods. For MSMEs in particular, BTN's standardised and transparent data infrastructure will allow financial institutions to assess risk more accurately and extend timely, contextual trade finance, improving credit accessibility for smaller exporters. As a horizontal digital infrastructure, BharatTradeNet is not envisaged to be sector- or geography-specific and is intended to cater to all sectors and stakeholders of trade ecosystem. The institutional framework and financial outlay for implementation of BharatTradeNet, including the contribution of the Central Government and other participating entities are under examination and will be finalised duly following the prescribed approval process. ***** 2
