Will the PRIME MINISTER be pleased to state:-
(a) the number and details of hospitals, cancer treatment centres, and research facilities
currently functioning under the Tata Memorial Centre and the Department of Atomic
Energy (DAE), State-wise especially in Andhra Pradesh;
(b) the details of the Hub and Spoke model being implemented for decentralisation of
cancer care including the number of hub and spoke centres identified/operationalised
across the country;
(c) whether any hospitals/spoke centres have been established or proposed in Andhra
Pradesh under this model particularly in the Konaseema region;
(d) if so, the details thereof including location, status and expected timeline of
completion;
(e) the funds allocated, released and utilized for establishment and expansion of cancer
hospitals and research centres under the DAE, State-wise during the last three years,
especially for Andhra Pradesh; and
(f) whether the Government has conducted/plans to conduct an assessment of regional
demand for cancer care infrastructure and workforce particularly in underserved
coastal districts like Konaseema and if so, the details thereof and if not reasons
therefor?

Further, as part of the National Cancer Grid (NCG), TMC has 380 cancer centres,
research organizations and patient groups. However, the NCG does not have a hub and
spoke model. The coordinating centre which is Tata Memorial Hospital runs various
activities across the member centres to strengthen cancer care in the country through
quality improvement, standardization, manpower training and research.
c) TMC has established a hospital in Andhra Pradesh namely Homi Bhabha Cancer
Hospital & Research Centre, Visakhapatnam.
d) Does not arise in view of answer to (c) above.
e) The funds allocated, released and utilised for establishment and expansion of cancer
hospitals and research centres under the DAE, State-wise during the last three years,
especially for Andhra Pradesh are furnished in Annexure –A.
f) TMC has not conducted/doesn’t have any request to carry out an assessment of regional
demand for cancer care infrastructure and workforce in Konaseema district.
