Parliament Question: Candidates Trained under PMKVY in Anantapur

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 2339 ANSWERED ON – 03.08.2026 CANDIDATES TRAINED UNDER PMKVY IN ANANTAPUR 2339. SHRI G LAKSHMINARAYANA: Will the Minister of SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP be pleased to state: (a) the details of candidates trained, certified and placed under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) in the textile and apparel sector in Andhra Pradesh during the last three years and the current year, year-wise including Anantapur Lok Sabha Constituency; (b) the details of training programmes conducted through PMKVY for the textile and garment sector in the said State and Constituency; (c) the details of beneficiaries from the One District One Product (ODOP) textile cluster in Anantapur who received skill training, entrepreneurship support or market linkage assistance through the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) along the said period, year-wise; and (d) the details of beneficiaries under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme (PMVS) belonging to the Darzi and Bunkar categories in the said Constituency indicating the number of toolkits distributed and loans sanctioned disbursed? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) IN THE MINISTRY OF SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP (SHRI JAYANT CHAUDHARY) (a) to (c) Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has been implementing its flagship scheme Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), since 2015, for imparting skill development training through Short-Term Training (STT) and up-skilling and re-skilling through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) to youth across the country. Under PMKVY, placements were tracked in the Short-Term Training (STT) component in the first three versions of the Scheme which is PMKVY 1.0, PMKVY 2.0 and PMKVY 3.0 implemented from FY 2015-16 to FY 2021-22. Under PMKVY 4.0 which is under implementation since FY 2022-23, the focus is to empower trained candidates to choose their varied career path and they are suitably oriented for the same through On-Job Training (OJT) embedded industry relevant skill courses. Under PMKVY, since inception i.e., 2015 till 30.06.2026, 62,519 candidates have been provided skill training in various job roles of ‘Textiles & Handlooms’ and ‘Apparel (covering garment)’ sectors in the State of Andhra Pradesh which includes 11,034 candidates from Anantapur Lok Sabha Constituency. The job-role wise number of candidates trained is given at Annexure. (d) Under PM Vishwakarma scheme, there is no category called Bunkar trade. However, the Basket/Mat/Broom Maker/Coir Weaver trade category may be construed as falling within the broader weaver category.
