CBSP SCHEME IN TAMIL NADU

Will the Minister of TOURISM be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has reviewed the progress of the Capacity
Building for Service Providers (CBSP) programme in Tamil Nadu,
particularly in enhancing service standards and employability in
tourism and hospitality sectors;
(b) the details of the number of candidates trained and certified under
CBSP in the said State during the last three years, year and district-
wise;
(c) whether the programme has contributed to improved service Quality,
Entrepreneurship and local employment generation in key tourism
destinations of Tamil Nadu;
(d) the details of the funds allocated, released and utilised for CBSP
training initiatives in the said State during the said period; and
(e) the details of the steps taken/being taken to expand the reach of
CBSP, strengthen industry partnerships and ensure sustainable skill
development outcomes for youth and service providers across Tamil
Nadu?
ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT)
(a) to (e): The Ministry of Tourism has put in place “Capacity Building for
Service Providers” (CBSP) scheme to provide education, training and
certification, etc. to the tourism service providers covering different
stakeholders of Hospitality and Tourism sector. This is to ensure
enhanced service standards and to increase the employability of service
providers across the country including Tamil Nadu.The Ministry of Tourism has conducted a third party evaluation of
CBSP scheme through Quality Council of India (QCI). QCI in its report 2025,
has reaffirm that the CBSP scheme has made a substantial contribution in
enhancing the quality, employability and entrepreneurship of country’s
tourism and hospitality workforce including Tamil Nadu.
The various training programmes under CBSP like Hunar Se Rozgar
Tak, Entrepreneurship Programme, Skill Testing & Certification, Tourism
Awareness Programme, etc. have been executed through Institutes of
Hotel Management, Food Craft Institutes, empanelled institutes, Industry
partners across the country including Tamil Nadu. These programmes
under CBSP Schemes are aligned as per the need of Tourism industry to
ensure involvement of local community, youth, service providers, etc. for
sustainable development of the same.
A statement showing number of Certified/Trained persons and
amount released under the Scheme of CBSP in Tamil Nadu during FY 2022-
23 to FY 2024-25 is annexed.
