Parliament Question: Compensation to Farmers for Land Acquisition

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 2034 ANSWERED ON 31st JULY, 2025 COMPENSATION TO FARMERS FOR LAND ACQUISITION

2034. SHRI SANATAN PANDEY:

Will the Minister of ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS सड़क परिवहन औि िाजमार्ग मंत्री

be pleased to state: a) whether the compensation for the land acquired for the four- lane widening of National Highway (NH)-29 from Varanasi to Gorakhpur has been paid in full to the farmers, if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor;

b) whether any case is going on with the District Magistrates in Varanasi, Gorakhpur or Ghazipur districts regarding the payment of compensation to farmers and if so, the details thereof; and c) the time by which the compensation is likely to be paid to those farmers? (a) The details of compensation paid for the land acquired for the four-lane widening of NH- 29 from Varanasi to Gorakhpur are as

Rs. 24.97 crore is pending a s ownership/shareholding/cir cle rate-related cases, whic 2 Mau 2102.89 2039.54 63.35 h are pending in various cou rts. Disbursement in rest of Rs. 38.38 Cr. is in progress.

Rs. 14.72 crore is pending a s ownership/ shareholding/ c ircle rate-related cases, whi ch are pending in various co urts. Rs. 18.12 Cr. has been 3 Ghazipur 2853.84 2820.62 33.22 withdrawn from the CALA P D account limit due to non-a pplicability of Disbursement, and the remaining 0.28 Cr. i s being disbursed by CALA Ghazipur.Rs. 13.8 Cr. is pending for di sbursement due to disputes 4 Varanasi 558.6 544.8 13.8 in ownership/shareholding r elated cases under various courts

(b) District- wise information of cases with District Magistrates is as

under:

1. Gorakhpur- 121 cases for enhancement of compensation amount are pending with Arbitrator/ District Magistrate Court, Gorakhpur.

2. Ghazipur- 44 cases for enhancement of compensation amount are pending with Arbitrator/ District Magistrate Court, Ghazipur.

3. Varanasi- No cases regarding the payment of compensation to farmers are reported to be pending at District Magistrate, Varanasi.

(c) After the settlement of the said cases, the process of compensation payment to the concerned farmers will be completed.

However, the disbursement of Rs. 38.66 Cr. is in progress at present in Districts of Mau and Ghazipur by the Competent Authority (Land Acquisition). *****
