(a) the details of the quantum of land acquired for Budhni to Indore
new broad gauge line project and the amount of compensation
disbursed so far;
(b) whether any disparities/discrepancies have been noticed in the
process of land acquisition and compensation disbursement, if
so, the details thereof;
(c) the details of the action taken to remove these discrepancies
till date and the number of cases of farmers/land owners still
pending; and
(d) the time by when the compensation is likely to be disbursed to
the remaining farmers and the action plan if any, made thereof?

(a) to (d): The new line project between Indore - Budni (205 Km) has
been sanctioned at a cost of ₹3262 crore. This project has been
notified as a “Special Railway Project”.
The project alignment passes through Indore, Dewas and Sehore
districts of Madhya Pradesh. An expenditure of ₹1627 crore has been
incurred upto June-2025 for the project and an outlay of ₹555 crore
has been allocated for the year 2025-26. The work has been taken up
in this project.
This project involves acquisition of 1438 Ha of land that includes
1268 Ha of Private land and 170 Ha of Government land. Award for
total land of 1438 Ha has been passed by Competent Authority for
Land Acquisition (CALA) out of which possession of 1269 Ha land has
been given to Railways. Total compensation of amount for this land
acquisition has been assessed by CALA as ₹721 crore. This
compensation amount for land acquisition has been deposited by
Railways. Disbursement of compensation amount to the project
affected persons is being carried out by State Government authorities.
Railway acquires land through concerned State/District Authorities. All
the activities in connection with land acquisition like assessment of
amount of compensation to land losers etc. are under purview of the
State Government.
Compensation for land acquisition is made to the land losers by the
Revenue Department of the State Government after demanding the
same from Railways. The process is undertaken in coordination with

state governments, following the provisions of the Right to Fair
Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation
and Resettlement Act, 2013.
Railway infrastructure projects falling fully/partly in the State of
Madhya Pradesh are covered under North Central Railway, West
Central Railway, East Central Railway, Western Railway, Central
Railway, South Central Railway and South East Central Railway zones
of Indian Railways. Zonal Railway wise details of Railway projects
including cost, expenditure and outlay are made available in public
domain on Indian Railway’s website.
As on 01.04.2025, 24 Railway projects (08 New Lines, 02 Gauge
Conversion and 14 Doubling), of total length of 4,740 Km costing
₹89,543 crore falling fully/partly in the State of Madhya Pradesh, are at
various stages of planning and implementation, out of which 2,092 Km
length has been commissioned and an expenditure of ₹41,401 crore
has been incurred upto March 2025. The status of work is summarized

Completion of Railway project/s depends on various factors like quick
land acquisition by State Government, forest clearance by officials of
forest department, shifting of infringing utilities, statutory clearances
